Wrath and Glory RPG soundtrack

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, the galaxy needs heroes more than ever before. Shattered by the Great Rift, the galaxy’s many worlds stand on the brink of oblivion and madness. But there are those who fight for a shred of hope, a glimmering promise that their people may yet endure.

This is a tale of wrath and glory.

Ulisses North America is proud to present the Wrath & Glory Soundtrack, a collection of instrumental music composed especially for the Wrath & Glory RPG.

Recently, Ulisses North America asked me to compose a soundtrack album for their Warhammer 40k RPG, “Wrath and Glory.” It’s 45 minutes of dark orchestral and ambient music reflecting the settings and themes of the Dark Imperium.

I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

Klingon Christmas Carol production roundup

A few years back I composed the official soundtrack for Christopher Kidder-Mostrom and Sasha Warren’s “A Klingon Christmas Carol.” The show is being performed in 2 cities this year:

Mounds Theatre, St. Paul, MN – Dec. 7-29

EDGE Theatre, Chicago, IL – Nov. 29- Dec. 16

The soundtrack album, “Feast of the Long Night,” is available from CD Baby, Bandcamp, and iTunes.

The Jam Poster

Here’s a new project I worked on recently: The Jam Poster at the Illinois Holocaust Museum. To go along with their Bill Graham exhibit, Ogilvy and Novalia LTD. created a touch-sensitive poster connected to a sample-playback engine. Touching the poster triggers different pre-recorded sound loops. Nylon Studios composed the main musical piece, and I added various lead guitar sounds and feedback as well as consulting with the creative team on concepts and process.

Kudos to everyone involved with this fantastic project!

Filk song: Oscar

My friend Nicole Bloomsmith wrote this fun love song to actor Oscar Isaac. I recorded and produced the track as well as playing guitar. Enjoy!

“Limerence” Kickstarter update: I’m famous! (well, not really)

The director and producers of “Limerence” sat down with me and composers Alexa Borden and Connor Cook of Lexacon Music to talk about the sound design and music of the short film “Limerence.” The three of us worked on the trailer for the film, and should be working on the final film if fundraising is successful.

Here’s the result:

The Kickstarter for “Limerence” runs until March 2, 2016. Please give it a look, and contribute if you are moved to do so!

Klingon Christmas Carol soundtrack recording!

Back in 2013 I created the sound design and music for the Chicago production of A Klingon Christmas Carol. In 2014 my music and design was used yet again, in the Chicago and Minnesota productions, and I expanded my original compositions into full pieces (theatre cues are frequently only a few seconds long) in order to create a soundtrack CD. The fantastic folks at Commedia Beauregard pressed up copies of the disc and we sold them at shows.

This year there is no Chicago production of A Klingon Christmas Carol, but perhaps the next best thing is this: the soundtrack is now available for download at CD Baby.  I’m really quite proud of the music from the show and I hope you enjoy it!

Midsommer Flight’s “Twelfth Night” soundtrack album

Last Sunday I had the privilege of recording the cast of Midsommer Flight‘s production of “Twelfth Night,” performing songs from that show as well as other songs by Shakespeare. They were kind enough to post photos of the session on their blog. The music is fantastic, the performances are great, and the album will be available at their performances and online soon.

Thanks to director Beth Wolf and the cast of “Twelfth Night” for an excellent night of beautiful music and fun!

Indian Raga – Lavani Bandish

A few months ago I spent 2 weekends recording some amazing Indian musicians. It was an intense batch of sessions, but incredibly rewarding. We tracked over 2 dozen pieces live to tape, and shot video of the performances as they were being recorded. Here’s a video of one of the pieces I recorded and mixed.
